Katie Buono is an interdisciplinary artist and composer. Her installations and sound designs have been included in the PICA Time Based Arts Festival, Portland International Women’s Film Festival / Athens International Film Festival (Rian Brown-Orso), and the Threshold Regional New Music Festival (Bowling Green University). She was selected for an Artist Residency at the Institute for Sustainable Living Art & Natural Design, the Oberlin Conservatory DVD Sonic Exposures, and received the title Scholar and Artist Fellow by Oberlin College and Conservatory. She’s worked as a Teaching Artist at Portland Public Schools, the Sonic Arts Workshop at Oberlin Conservatory, and coordinated community workshops for Hildegard Westerkamp (Oberlin Artist Residency Series) and Jill Sigman/ThinkDance (St. Nick’s Alliance, Greenpoint NY), as well as contributed to design meetings for the GreenArts District, inter-disciplinary science and arts complex at Oberlin College. She’s designed sound for the Oberlin Dance Company, In Noon Dance Collective, and WOBC community radio among many other projects. She’s passionate about the arts as an empowering force for all ages and backgrounds.
